Hello doctor, my daughter just got her peripheral smear test result, I would like to ask what does her blood test result means. " The smear shows normocytic and normochromic red blood cells with mild aninocytosis. No nucleated red blood cells seen. The white blood cells are within the normal range with predominance of neutrophils. No blasts cells seen. The platelets are adequate seen singly with unremarkable morphology." Thank you!!
Hello, Thanks for the query. I have gone through your test reports and I can understand your concerns.
First of all ,I can assure you that the results are perfectly normal and nothing to worry in it. Let me explain the terminologies bit derailed. "Normocytic normochromic red blood cells are seen", it means that the size and iron content of her blood cells are normal. This virtually rules out every forms of anaemia. The white blood cells are normal . There is no immature or cancerous cells are detected. Platelets are also normal looking. There is no malarial parasites or other organisms detected in the smear. I think the test done as a part of routine investigations, you don't need to worry regarding this as every thing looks perfectly normal in it. Thanks ,
Dr Shinas Hussain
